Epstein purchased a more modest island - the Little St James - back in the late 1990s, but subsequently obtained the more expansive Great St James in the year 2016 for around $22.5 million.
These photos suggest he had created ambitious plans to develop the sprawling island by building homes, an amphitheatre, an submerged workspace and a swimming pool.
